Izzy - ADOPTED July 2010

Izzy has been adopted. Happy Ending story soon to come!

Jesse - ADOPTED July 2010

Jesse (formerly "Julius", or "JC") joined our hound family on 7/3/10. Jesse never ceases to put a smile on my face -- a wonderful rainbow after a cloudy, heartbreaking year of losing my two very special iggies (Bailey and Lexi). Jesse is a great example of how important it is to look beyond first impressions -- and to trust that Mary instinctively knows where her adopted iggies will thrive. When I first met Jesse on his adoption or "gotcha") day, I didn't feel an instantaneous bond. He didn't engage much -- just walked around, checking out the other dogs and the gardens. He seemed a bit stressed and aloof -- but he had also just come from a long stay with his wonderful foster family, so I expected him to be anxious, especially after reading Mary's description of him on the ECIGR website. He snoozed all the way home, did some exploring inside and out, and to my astonishment, wound up in my bed, under the covers, by the end of that first evening. He's still uncertain, but he's engaging more every day, and his lovable personality is coming out. He's learned how to wait until my 4 galgos are downstairs, then run upstairs to the bedroom to claim his rightful spot on the bed. He's voicing his opinion, as well as his need for attention. He loves his skritches, and even though he's learning to navigate through the galgos' eclectic personalities, is figuring it all out on his own by flying under the radar. He's very clever, and I look forward to watching him continue to blossom.

These little guys will surprise you. When you're ready to adopt, don't shy away from iggies who may seem a bit hesitant, or who aren't the snuggly, playful, outgoing iggies we think of when we decide to add an iggy to our home. These pups are just waiting for someone to give them a chance, love them for who they are, but also remember that who they are the day you meet them, is probably not the "real" iggy you will come to know. They are so worth the patience and love.

Jesse says "thank you, Aunt Mary and foster mom Justine, for believing in me"!

Hi my name is Chloe and I met my adoptive family in August 2009. It is great here, it was love at first sight! They met me one day and could not let me go. I have a beautiful iggy sister named Hilde, she is great! I am a very busy puppy so I keep everyone on their toes. They are working on my potty training, I am doing much better, but I really dislike the rain and snow so I do have some accidents. I mean, really, what is the use of this cold wet stuff?? Anyway life is good, I am very happy and well loved here. Hilde and I, along with our Orange Kitty (yes that is the name my parents gave him, thank God they did not pick my name... ), are all very spoiled! I wouldn't change my family for anything.

I have lots of friends both Iggies and other breeds. The other animal hospital dogs and I get along well so I always have someone to play with, too! Life is great. Since I'm really well trained, I get to go lots of places with my dad and I even still get to see my foster Mom, Raven and old foster sibling, almost on a weekly basis! Did I tell you I have a girlfriend? She's a Daschund and her name is Doppler. We have play dates a lot and love to snuggle, especially on the weekends. Thanks for finding me the perfect home Auntie Raven and East Coast IG Rescue… I am the luckiest dog ever!

I have adjusted very well to my new home. On May 22nd, 2009 I was adopted by my new family, whom I love. I have two doting parents and the prettiest sister ever. Her name is Fresca and she is divine. We all go to the dog park together and on long walks every day. We get to go to Starbucks on Wayland square to meet many other coffee drinkin' canines and i get to chew squeaky toys to my little heart's content. Fresca and I will soon have our own private yard in which to run and jump. I cannot wait! Everyone seems to love me.......I am incredibly easy on the eyes and I have a wonderful personality too. Thanks East Coast IG Rescue! Love, Oliver Brahms the 4th.

“Hi, here I am (the littlest guy) with my new forever family in Westport, MA. My big sister “Blue” is very protective of me and my big brother “Louie” who visits very weekend loves to play and chase after toys with me and we all love to run around outside in the yard. I love my new mom and dad and their daughter very much but I am very cautious with anyone else and am trying to improve my people skills but my potty habits and going great. I just follow Blue around. Thanks for finding me my new home.”

Tony and Winnie - ADOPTED March 2009

Tony and Winnie came in together as a pair and we are thrilled that we were able to keep them together. Leah says they are perfect, wonderful, amazing...really--all they could have hoped for and more. Winnie is tiny and delicate and loves to be cuddled and Tony loves to play. Bill brought in the toys and Tony immediately wanted to play fetch, tug of war, etc. Becky (their Golden Retriever) loves to play too, and it was fun to see them trying to decide who was going to be the alpha dog (Leah think Becky will win based on size, age, and history, but Tony is doing his best to convince us he's the one). They love how cuddly they are!

Minnie - ADOPTED March 2009

What can I say about Minnie? She is filled with Joy, and has brought joy into the household. When Minnie wakes up in the morning, she looks around, then does her little 'Happy Dance'. You can't help but join in, and even Pancho, another 10 year old IG rescue, now does the 'Happy Dance' each morning. She loves to snuggle, and would prefer to be by my side every second. There was very little transition, she adapted to our household instantly, and won anyone and everyone over with her charms. She loves company, and she is up for anything, car rides, naps, walks, and always, Food! We feel so lucky to have found each other.

Skeeter - ADOPTED MARCH 2009

Skeeter has been adopted and is living happily with his new family. More info to come soon!

Trudy - ADOPTED February 2009

Trudy started technically as a foster, but after a few hours, I knew I wanted her to be a permanent part of OUR family! She is truly a blessing and a friend to both our other dogs (Frankie is our IG, and Maya is our rescued Mix). She has a remarkable capacity to love...and as you can see from the picture, she loves baths! She follows me into the bathroom every morning and sits in the bath tub while i get ready...too cute!

Lexi and Remi - ADOPTED February 2009

Lexi and Remi came into Rescue as a father/daughter pair. We were very excited that we could keep them together. They have adjusted very well and appear to be very happy. They love their new yard with lots of room to run and know how to go to the door for in and out. Remi jumps in bed with Nikki, their Shepherd, all the time. Nikki is very kind and sweet and loves having them around. They have lots of beds and quilts to snuggle in and love tv time at night when they snuggle on the couch. Lexi and Nikki kiss each other...LOL. They really have adjusted well and they act like they have been with us forever. Lexi is making huge strides from her first day and is showing signs of independence which is great!

Ernie - ADOPTED February 2009

Ernie has been adopted by his foster mom Deb and is living in CT.

Leo - ADOPTED February 2009

Leo has been adopted by Lauren in MA. Leo is spoiled like crazy and getting lots of love and attention in his new home. He is getting along great with their IG Coby. It took Leo a few days to come out of his shell but he is now velcro to Lauren and is finally playing with his squeaky toys and running around and playing. He's enjoying belly and back rubs daily! Lauren could not be happier to have "little Leo" in her life.

Pixiedust - ADOPTED January 2009

Pixiedust is loving her new home. She was an owner turn-in when circumstances prevented proper care and attention for her. She is a tiny little girl and oh, so cute! Patty, Steve and all their furries are so happy that she came to stay. Pixie loves to go for walks, cuddle on laps and have everyone who meets her fall in love with her! She has definitely wrapped her paws around their hearts!

Baxter - ADOPTED January 2009

Bruce and Donna are the proud parents of Baxter. They are having so much fun with him. He is the cuddliest and cutest dog they have ever seen. He loves to climb up on them and curl into a ball and drift off to sleep. He takes turns going back and forth between them. They are still working on the potty training but, he's getting there! They bought him a car seat and he goes on little excursions with them. He rides well and usually snuggles down and goes to sleep. It has been so cold but, they put him in his coat, wrap him up in a blanket and off they go. They usually head over to their son and daughter-in-law's house where Baxter gets to visit their full grown greyhound, Lady. They get along great! He has also been in contact with their daughter's dog, Brady. He's been over several times and is a shepherd/husky mix. Baxter is 1/3 the size of Brady but, he still tries to be the boss when it comes to play time! It's really funny to watch!

Cricket - ADOPTED December 2008

Cricket is doing well living with his new family in MA. He cuddles with everyone on the coach, including Spot, his new IG brother. He loves the fireplace! Their children love playing with Cricket and made up an "Oh Cricket Tree" song for him for Christmas... LOL. This is a great happy ending for Cricket!

Enzo has been adopted and is living in MA. Happy Ending story soon to come!

Maggie - ADOPTED November 2008

Maggie has been adopted. Happy Ending story soon to come!

Ray - ADOPTED November 2008

Ray is living with Pam and Joe in Whitinsville, MA. He was turned over to Rescue at the age of 15 because his dad was moving into a nursing home. His adoptive family says he is just wonderful and are so glad they adopted him. He's doing well with the Annie, their cat. He's sleeping well, eating well, and no accidents or anything. He has a new IG sister named Bella, who right now is a bit jealous, but they are still giving her lots of attention and extra kisses and know that after they settle in with each other that everything is going to be just fine. Ray's doing great on walks with Bella, he seems to prefer her to lead. And gentle, he's so gentle when taking a nibble snack, so sweet. We're, again, so grateful for being able to have Ray. And especially grateful for all you do. Please know that Ray is loved and cared for and has lots of blankets and beds, and love and pats.

Romeo - ADOPTED October 2008

Dianne and Ray are the proud parents to Romeo. We absolutely love Romeo and so does Charlie his new brother and best friend. We can’t imagine life without him. We are all attached to him. He is the sweetest, most affectionate dog. He is a perfect match with our family.

Talbot - ADOPTED October 2008

Talbot, formerly known as Logan, came out here from WI with several other IG/Chi mixes from a hoarding situation and needed to be in the home he is in now to blossom. He started off scared of his shadow and fearful of everything and has turned into a foot-warming cuddle bug. He is glued to his new mom's side and has taken to the two other female IG's (Rosie and Paloma) in the home and has become best friends with his new mom's elderly blind IG named Harley. The amount of progress he has made has amazed all of us, we never thought his progress would be so quick. He lives in a house overlooking Hingam Harbor just south of Boston.

Bob - ADOPTED October 2008

  ;

Bob is living with his new daddy in the Worcester area with two cats. Daddy works out of the house so Bob is in heaven. He has a nice fenced yard to call his own. His dad is absoltely amazed at how quick he came around and that he has had no accidents. His new dad said he couldn't have asked for a greater dog. What a great happy ending!

Giacomo - ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 2008

Giacomo (formerly know as Trouble) came into rescue after a pet store tried to euthanize him due to a broken leg. After operations, wearing a cast, lots of walks, and aqua therapy, he is doing great. Jaco is now living a “spoiled” life in Woburn (MA). While he still limps occasionally, his leg doesn’t slow him down. He loves tearing around the house, playing and wrestling with his IG sister Izzy. They are inseparable. He is the first one she looks for when waking in the morning (and vice-versa). Jaco is quite an outgoing pup, loving everyone he meets (and they loving him as well)! He has such a “goofy” personality that it is hard to be mad at him even when he is being mischievous. Jaco is now a huge part of our family, making us smile each day. Thank you for bringing him into our lives.

Bugsy - ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 2008

After nearly half of a year in foster care, Bugsy has found his forever home! His family is happy to have him in their lives, they could not imagine a day without him.

Tegan - ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 2008

We adopted "Tony" from Mary... he is now Tegan. He immediately became part of the family and Tegan and his brother Sorbi are completely inseparable. He is loved so much and it is hard to remember how things were before him... he is such a presence and has such a little personality.

Vinny - ADOPTED September 2008

Vinny has been adopted. Happy Ending story to come...

Max - ADOPTED September 2008

After 21 months in foster care, Max finally went to his furever home! Happy Ending story soon to come...

Rascal - ADOPTED August 2008

Rascal (formerly known as Rocket) has been adopted and is living with his new mom who's absolutely in love with him and his personality. She says that he loves being outside and enjoys walks along the beach path. He also loves Pogo, a friend's IG which was also adopted through Mary, photographed with Rascal to the right!

Vella - ADOPTED July 2008

Vella is doing great. Since coming into our home this year, Vella has adjusted to the changes she has been faced with. She is a key member of our pack, now 6! She now sits on command. We are still working on her food issues. She's still very hand shy, but can be approached to be picked up, if spoken to very gently. Vella has taken a cue from Russell and very much enjoys rough housing with Raffi, our biggest boy. She's actually quite sassy! Oh no, Shelby might have competition as Diva of the Pack.

Tia - ADOPTED July 2008

What a blessing it has been to have Zazu in our lives... Who would have thought we could be doubly blessed with such a sweet, precious girl as Tia? The moment we laid our eyes on Tia we knew she would be the one to make our home complete. Gentle and sweet, yet spunky and energetic, Tia brought new life into our home. Zazu has fallen head over heels for her and we have too. Tia and Zazu have immediately bonded and it has brought out the best in both of them. It is amazing to sit back and watch as nature takes over where human influence can only scratch the surface. Tia and Zazu are spending the lazy days of summer snuggling, going for walks, and playing with toys. Thank you so much to all the wonderful people who work for East Coast Italian Greyhound and for the important and often challenging work you do for these beautiful dogs. I would like to especially thank Laura, Melissa, Mary, Patty, Steve, Gina, and Gramma for helping to bring such happiness into our lives through our adoptions of Zazu and Tia. - Heidi and Billy

Skye and Spring - ADOPTED July 2008

Skye and Spring have been adopted by Melissa, RI Rep, and are living in RI. After being in foster care for nearly a year she has decided to make Skye and Spring permenent memebers of her family. They have two IG siblings, Bailey and Lexi, and enjoy playing with the fosters that come and go. We are so glad that they were able to stay together and did not have to be split apart. They have found their forever home!

Yogi and Boo Boo - ADOPTED July 2008

Yogi and Boo Boo were adopted by Joe and Sue and are living in NH. They doggies in the first photo are Yogi, Chloe, Boo Boo, and Lyssa. They have other siblings named Mousey (IG - bottom left) Itty Bitty (Pomeranian), and Emma (Spaniel Mix). The boys are adapting to their new home. They seem to almost understand that potty time is outside. Both Boo and Yogi will go to the door when its time to go out. Occasionally one of them will just poop outside and then pee inside, but they're trying hard. Yogi has quite a personality. He'll leap into your lap, lick your face, and immediately bounce off to roughhouse with the other dogs. Its quite comical. He plays all the time, even at bed time when they're all under the comforter I'll hear them wrestling away. They're funny in the bed as both will try to put their heads on the pillows. Boo Boo has made tremendous progress and has become our cuddle bug. For the most part he will allow us to handle him. He's calmer around people and his heart no longer races a mile a minute when picked up.

Coby - Adopted July 2008

Coby has been adopted by Erin and Mike and is living in RI with his IG brother named Jake. It's funny he hates when Jake leaves the room can't be with out him, but they play well together its so funny to see them both run around the house like mad dogs! Thanks again for everything! What a wonderful addition to our little family Coby has made.

Cisco and Anthony - Adopted July 2008

Cisco, formerly known as Orecchio, and Anthony, formerly known as Rufus came into Rescue separately but were adopted within weeks of each other. As you can tell by the pictures, the two of them are doing great in their new home with their mom and dad, Margie and John. They truly are living happily ever after. Thank you East Coast IG Rescue!

Ziggy - Adopted July 2008

  ;

Hanna - ADOPTED June 2008

Hanna has been adopted by a wonderful man and is living the great live on Martha's Vineyard. Her dad says it is hard to believe how she has blossomed since he got her, it seems every day some new emerges. She dropped 2 pounds the first month, then stabilized, and my guess she is now about 16lbs, nicely toned and eating twice as much dog food, hardly ever pees or poops indoors now, though with the winter that may change but I have those great pee pads; please note after ignoring the big orange ball that came with her, recently she has pretty much decimated it. Nowadays the inherent playfullness in her is emerging to my delight. It turns out she loves the apples in a small apple tree in the yard, and she out of the blue went crazy with them one day, pawing, levitating when they 'moved', throwing them up in the air, chewing, gnawing, and chasing.

Gypsy - ADOPTED June 2008

Just wanted to drop a note to tell you that Gyppie-Pie (what we run around calling her most of the time) is fantastic. Gyppie has made a few dog friends but has just about every human she comes into contact with wrapped around her little paw……we have a sitter for her on M, W and F and on Thursday she gets to spend the whole day at Milo’s (her IG friend) house playing—Can you stand it? She has a better social life than we do!!!! Thanks again for everything you did to help us. We adore Gyp and can’t express in words how happy she makes us!

Basil - ADOPTED June 2008

Basil has been adopted by our volunteer Laura and her daugthers Mary and Anna. He's enjoying living life with his IG brothers Jack and Chip and his IG sister Ella!

Gracie - ADOPTED May 2008

Gracie has been adopted by Joanne which fell in love with her as soon as she saw her. She will be loved greatly in her new home!

Milo - ADOPTED May 2008

Milo, formerly known as Larry, is now living in his forever home with Noreen and Mike. I think it's nearly impossible to tell you how much joy he brings to us. He is such a good dog. I seem to recall wondering if he would be okay with us when I first met him because he was so shy and scared. After nearly two months he has settled in and we have seen a dramatic difference in him. He knows that we love him and he doesn't seem to need much else. He travels with me or Mike everyday which he seems to like. On the rare occasions when we leave him home, he stays in my office cuddled up on one of his many beds and listens to Harry Potter! He has two friends named Snoop and Gypsy that are both IG/Chi mixes. We are enjoying each other and thank you for bringing Milo together with our family. We couldn't have picked a better dog if we tried.

Chip - ADOPTED May 2008

Lily was turned in due to new baby in the family and not enough time. She is really enjoying her new home with her new Mom and Dad and her new family -Lily the Dachshund, Brady the Min-Pin and Fancy the mini-poodle. They are all having a ball and her new family loves her dearly already. Her new Mom says, "I wanted to write to you to tell you how happy we are to have Lily. She is the dearest, sweetest thing. A very active girl and inquisitive, and we love her for that. She gets along famously with our doggies. In particular the dachshund has been her favorite. As you know her name is also Lily! Kind of fun to call LILY and 2 dogs respond!!!! Just wanted you to know that things are going along just perfect. Lily has settled in with her sisters, brother, Mom & Dad. She is a wonderful little dog and we are so lucky to have her. All of our doggies love her. I think its a major miracle that we have her. She is so sweet- she deserves the best home and we're making that happen."

Larry - ADOPTED April 2008

Larry, now Vinny lives with his new family including a new brother IG named Pinot and they get along famously. We hope that Vinny enjoys many, many happy times with them.

Spud - ADOPTED March 2008

Stella - ADOPTED February 2008

Stella has been adopted by her new dad Josh living in RI. She was thrown a doggie shower where she received many neat gifts such as clothing and toys. She is learning the routine nicely and loves to go for car rides and vising family and friends. She is quite the student in her obedience class! Her dad figured out how to make Stella a cloak that she can wear around so no matter where she lays down, she's covered in fleece! The seatbelt in the second picture was just for the camera, she is always a backseat girl with her harness. She travels frequently with her dad and is always looking for shortcuts!

Fendi - ADOPTED February 2008

Fendi has been adopted by Glenn and Katherine living in MA. She now has a brother named Merlyn. Fendi is doing well in adjusting to her new home and is getting the hang of the pee pads. Her and Merlyn also go for walks at least two times a day. She is very well mannered.

Stevie - ADOPTED February 2008

Stevie has fit in so wonderfully! Not only does he have all the love an affection of my 3 daughters doting on him, but he has found a playmate in my Boxer Merlin. They have a wonderful time chasing each other around *and it's pretty funny to see a Boxer running for his life with a little Italian Greyhound in hot pursuit!* Stevie also has an IG sister named Penny and they sit together in the little patches of sunshine that come through the windows, it's very cute, like they're on a little date. We all just love him to bits! He is perfect!

Buster and Flo - ADOPTED January 2008

Buster and Flo have been adopted together and are living with Michelle and Rich in Massachusetts. Buster and Flo are doing well. Buster is excellent, Michelle and Rich are really enjoying his company. He is well behaved and has been great with going to the bathroom outside. They just can't get over how handsome and wonderful he is. They think Flo is the cutest puppy in the world. She seems to go with the flow pretty easily. She has been good with going to the bathroom outside (Buster helps teach good habits). They've been focusing on getting her to "come" with hand signals due to being deaf. Flo is smart. She seems to have adjusted quickly. Buster and Flo are getting along, it is amazing how Flo can hold her own when they are playing. That said Buster doesn't play too rough. Flo has made a game out of taking from Buster whatever toy he is playing with and running away with it while he chases her. They feel blessed to have these guys.

Evie and Baby - ADOPTED January 2008

Evie and Baby have been adopted and are living with Jenn and Bob in their New Hampshire home. Though it has been an adjustment for everyone, everything is starting to fall into place. They are currently learning “table” manners and there are plans to go to “Agility for fun” classes. Evie is a natural. She loves to play with Bob, and chases and leaps as he squeaks her bunny toy. She loves the game. She and Baby occasionally run around the house like crazy dogs; barking and bounding. When not racing around and playing, Evie loves to cuddle with Bob while he works on the computer, and snuggles with Jenn under the covers at night. She flops all over Baby; when she’s not coveting his toys and he doesn't seem to mind. Baby loves to play and came out of his "low key" shell the first day in the new house, he's enthusiastic and full of life. He plays a barking running game with Jenn, but he likes to snuggle with her and watch the goings on with his beautiful, soulful eyes. He loves to dispense kisses and is a well mannered boy. They are loved very much!

Teddy and Mia - ADOPTED January 2008

Teddy, formerly known as Tony, and Mia, formerly known as Maria, have been adopted together and are living the great life in Maine. We are so pleased that this pair will be together forever!!!

Brownie has been exercising and losing weight while on walks through Cambridge with his Dad. He loves his new home!

Mocha - ADOPTED December 2007

Dolly - ADOPTED December 2007

We adopted Dolly after we lost our last Greyhound in December. Dolly is doing exceptionally well. She has taken to her new home after being slightly skiddish. She now goes potty outside and loves the outdoors. She loves to sit and watch the squirrels in their feeder, and chases them to their hole under the shed. This is a game to her. Dolly is loving and gives many, many kisses when either my husband or I have been away for even an hour, and she hears us coming into the house. We have spoiled her with clothes, a doggy carriage (so we can take her in the Malls), LOL. She loves riding in the car, and can tell when she is about to get close to the house, peeking out the window. What a treat and joy she has been to our lives.

Timmy - ADOPTED November 2007

Timmy has been adopted and is living with his new dad in Boston!

Tully - ADOPTED November 2007

Tully has been adopted and is happy with his new family in Western MA!

Bailey (white/fawn), formerly known as Jellybean, is doing great with his new family and and his new friend, Bella (fawn/white). Here they are cuddling up with each other. They get along great!! He is a little love and his family can’t imagine him not with them.

Fern - ADOPTED November 2007

Fern, formerly known as Sadie, has been adopted by her new mom Mary living in Somerville, MA.

Finn - ADOPTED October 2007

Finn, formerly known as Big Guy, has found his new family and is living in Salisbury, MA.

Gemma - ADOPTED October 2007

Gemma, formerly known as Muffy, is now living with her new family in CT. She came into rescue without a known name, now she has so many. She has been formally named Gemma (Italian for gemstone...she is a diamond-some would say diamond in the rough, but we think she is perfect), but she has tons of names. Muffy, Muffin girl, Gemi, Bella (Mom likes to call her Bella), Gummy bear. So good natured and sweet, she usually responds to anything... eye contact and she is next to everyone she meets. She is so loving and sweet, easy going, gets along great with the other IGs, goes outside to potty perfectly. Her family thinks she is an angel. She has been getting lots of exercise following her mom around.

Zazu - ADOPTED September 2007

Zazu was adopted by Heidi and Billy in early September 2007. Eager to learn more about the Italian Greyhound breed, they attended one of Mary's summer parties. Billy and Heidi were immediately hooked on the breed. The warm and gentle nature of this breed, as well as their outgoing personalities, made this breed an instant sell. Meeting such wonderful people at the party and seeing all of the loving dogs in need of homes, quickly opened their eyes to the great value of adopting a rescue dog. Although Billy and Heidi had first considered buying an Italian Greyhound from a breeder, the experiences they underwent at the rescue party, changed their minds completely. They left the party intent on adopting an Italian Greyhound.

Zazu came into their lives and has been an absolute gift. He is the sweetest, cutest, most affectionate dog...Sensitive and shy at times, bold and mischievous at other times, Zazu is a wonderful blend of many special qualities. He has quickly placed himself in the center of Bill and Heidi's lives.

Zazu is fortunate to have a very loving and supportive extended family who have opened their hearts to this beautiful little dog. Zazu enjoys eating, sleeping, and most of all playing with his two older Boston Terrier uncles Bosco and Spanky. It is so cute to step back and watch these little guys interact. Bosco and Spanky are both seniors dogs and they have quickly taken the young Zazu under their wings. Every day Zazu eagerly awaits his play time with them. Funny thing is, as much as he loves being part of the pack, he always wants to be the center of attention.

Thanks so much for giving us such a happy ending with Zazu. We appreciate all the efforts of Mary, Gina, Patty, Steve, and all the Italian Greyhound Rescue volunteers for the important work they do every day. Mary, thanks for giving us such a special dog. Zazu will be turning 2 on Valentine's Day; it is the perfect birthday for him. He is such a lovable little guy.

Lady - ADOPTED July 2007

Lady is now living with her new mom, Charlotte, and is getting lots and lots of love and affection.

Jasper - ADOPTED May 2007

Jasper, formerly known as Casper, has found the perfect home with new dad Jim and big brother Ben! Jasper is always wagging his tail, playful, and he makes his dad smile everyday.

Bindi - ADOPTED February 2007

Bindi is the newest addition to the Reed household - she is a high-spirited "wild child" with a very loving & sweet disposition. She loves her iggy siblings - older brother Piccolo & older sis Sophia. There is never a dull moment in this house!!! She joined the family in February 2007. Things ain't been the same since!

Gema - ADOPTED October 2006
Sadie - ADOPTED August 2007

Gema (4 yrs, blue/white) and Sadie (10 yrs, red) were adopted by Louise and John. Gema entered their family first in Oct 2006 as a birthday present to John. Gema is a petite little girl and soon became "Daddy's Little Princess". Louise could not believe that such a tiny dog could melt a 6'2" man's heart (but it happened). She is still the Princess of their house. Sadie joined their family in Aug 2007. She originally was only going to be "fostered" in their home until they could find her a new family, but they fell in love with her sweet disposition and it only took a few days before they knew that they could not let her go. Both of their little girls have different personalities. Gema is more "vocal" and is the first one to let them know when someone is at their door. Sadie is a little more mellow and loves to "sing" for treats. Both girls snuggle on the couch with them to watch TV underneath a "Patriot's" blanket, but still need their own "space" underneath the covers in their bed. They love to spoil their girls!

Daphne - ADOPTED January 2006

I adopted Daphne at a time when my world, as I knew it, had ended. On the heels of 2 significant deaths in my family I decided I needed to replace my sadness with some long awaited happiness as in adopting a dog. Daphne became a part of my life in January of 2006. It was the best decision I ever made to adopt. Daphne whose now 6 has brought more joy than I could have imagined. She's spunky, sassy and always ready to make me smile!!

Stashi - ADOPTED January 2006

Ralph and Loni adopted Stashi in January 2006.

Rita and Fred - ADOPTED in 2006

Judy adopted Rita and Fred through IG Rescue. The red girl is Rita and the boy is Fred. Rita has almost no teeth and had no fur when she got her but it has mostly grown back. Fred likes warm clothes from the dryer almost as much as he loves Rita.

Dave - ADOPTED in 2006

Dave was adopted by Julie in 2006 at the age of 3. He goes to work with her everyday and has become the shop mascot. Dave was near perfect when we got him! Julie and her husband Nick love Dave sooo much and he is like their child. Julie's mom has a full size rescued greyhound named Sam who is best of friends with Dave, they truly love each other!

Fonzi - ADOPTED December 2005

Fonzi was adopted by Adam and Meredith in December 2005. He has a brother Morretti that he loves so much!!! Fonzi is a major clown and is always goofing around. He is a little bit of an instigator who intentionally annoys Morretti so that he will chase him. He follows Morretti around where ever he goes and will lay right on top of him to snuggle. He also loves to play with his 'girlfriends' Gema and Sadie (listed below) at his Grammy's house.

Bandit - ADOPTED June 2005
Rocky - ADOPTED September 2005

Bandit and Rocky were adopted by Mark and Erin. Bandit (blue fawn/white) was adopted in June 2004. He took a short while to adjust. He used to shake when people were around. You would never think he was like that now. He loves squeaky toys and tug of war, along with licking your face. He also stands guard now of our baby. Rocky (fawn/white) was adopted around September 2005. We felt Bandit need a friend during the day. He walked in as if he was with us all his life. It was an easy transition. He greets us every day with a present such as a stuffed animal or a shoe everyday. He loves being scratched and he loves to tug of war or fetch with anyone who will play with him. He also runs for the car when you mention going for a ride. They are both great dogs with their own personality.

Bella - ADOPTED January 2005

Julie adopted Bella in January of 2005 from Ann Bodkhe after applying through Mary. Bella has seizures, which Ann and Julie didn't know about when she got her. She's the sweetest thing. She's a bit of a couch potato, but so is Julie! She goes to work with Julie every day.

Sophia - ADOPTED September 2004

"Miss Pia" is the princess of the Reed clan! Feisty & all "girly-girl", she is one of the funniest dogs we have ever known. She keeps us in constant stitches! She is also a master at cuddling & is an EXTREME kissy-face.

Maddie - ADOPTED September 2004

Linda and Bonnie adopted Maddie, blue/fawn, in September 2004 from Mary Frankio. Maddie was born 5/10/04 in Arkansas. Maddie has an IG sibling named Precious who is blue/white. Bonnie and Linda purchased Precious from someone, she was not a rescue. Precious was almost 5 when they got Maddie. They love each other a lot.

Mia - ADOPTED February 2004

I adopted Mia from Mary and the East Coast Italian Greyhound Rescue on February 9, 2004. She was 8 years old then and now she is a healthy 13 year old. Still has a lot of puppy left in her. Prior to her adoption she was in numerous foster homes and was adopted for a week, but that didn't work out. However, she has found a great life since with me. She is still a wonderful and loving gal. I live in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. There are very few IG's in this area, so she is a show-stopper everywhere I go.

Baron - ADOPTED Feb 2004
Phoenix - ADOPTED October 2004

Baron was not adopted through IG Rescue however, his addition to our family can not be described as anything less than a rescue. Baron came to us in February 2004. At the tender age of 7 months, we were his third family, had been hit by a car and had pnuemonia. Mary from IG Rescue worked tirelessly with his original owner to have Baron come into rescue. The owner decided to place him into a home instead, and to no ones surprise, Baron was soon looking for another home. He found his way into our home and our hearts. He has been a joy since the moment he came to us. We are completely smitten by him. We got in touch with Mary where we learned that she had been his guardian angel long before he came to us. Thank GOD for rescue angels!

Phoenix was adopted in October 2004. When he came to us, he was shy and timid and very insecure. He would rather sleep on the hard cold floor than sleep in our warm and cozy bed. He was terrified of stairs and wouldn't allow anyone to show him the love we were so ready and willing to give. Then suddenly three months later, I was sick, laying on the couch feeling awful when in came Phoenix who must have seen how sick his new mom was and he came alive. He began playing with me and laying down with me. It was as if he was trying to heal me. Ever since then, he's been my little cuddlebug, gleefully playing with my two children and his best friend and brother Baron whom he can never be apart from. Phoenix has truly completed our family.

I thank GOD for my two IG's and I am so grateful to IG Rescue for helping our family find each other.

Penny and Sassy - ADOPTED 2003 and 2004

Diane adopted Penny and Sassy back in 2003 and 2004. Sassy, is the one sitting in front of the girls, she was turned into rescue at 10 years old because her family decided they wanted a puppy and didn't want 2 dogs, so somebody had to go and it was Sassy. Sassy is the reason Diane got involved with rescue. She was the happiest, silliest and most loving little dog. Visit this clip from YouTube so you can see how active and healthy a 13 year old Italian Greyhound can be. Age is only a number! Sassy passed away September 2007 at the age of 14.

Penny is the little chickie sitting on Diane's daughter's lap. We are Penny's 9th home. She had a tough life, she was turned into rescue when she wasn't able to have anymore puppies. She had a long, tough road going from home to home. Penny came into rescue and into Diane's life when she was almost 9 years old. She runs the whole house and everyone *dog/human* knows she's in charge.

Diane is living proof that seniors are amazing and you shouldn't count them out!

Sadie and Annabelle - ADOPTED 2003 and 2006

Alex and Doreen adopted Sadie from Ann Bodkhe and Annabelle from Laura Thompson. Sadie, blue/white, was 6 yrs old when they adopted her in 2003. Sadie was a former mill mom and Alex and Doreen were her second home after the mill. Annie, pretty seal/white, was 8 months when they adopted her in 2006. Annie had been in a crate for 4 months with a Chi breeder. She came into rescue in rough shape with sarcoptic mange and whipworms. One of their favorite pictures is of the girls in their Halloween costumes. The costumes fit their personalities! Sadie, the little sweet angel and Annie, the happy little devil!

Romeo and Isabelle - ADOPTED 2003

Renee and Shannon adopted Romeo and Isabelle (formerly Buddy and Nikki) back in 2003 to live with them in New Hampshire. Sadly Isabelle has left them to wait at the rainbow bridge, but left them with many wonderful memories and Romeo continues to melt their hearts!

Andre - ADOPTED 2002
Amelie - ADOPTED 2003

Andre and Amelie were adopted by Gail in 2002 and 2003. Andre is the red fawn/white markings IG with white stripe down his elegant head and neck. He has white socked paws and he smells like heaven - a kind of warm, love powder smell. Andre loves everyone, especially children, even babies he kisses in their stroller. He still searches for the kids he left when he was put up for adoption. He cuddles up to any willing child and won't budge. Andre is my heart and Amelie my joy. Where Andre is delicate, royal and genteel, Amelie, his sister, is a punky, fiesty, brilliant one track minded IG (FOOD). Highest IQ of any IG I've seen. Amelie is the sable/white IGwho looks elegant... but her appearance is deceiving. Amelie's a little, adorable she-devil in sable dress with white gloves to her elbows. She climbs like a goat and has been known to get up on tables and empty contents of dog treat bags and once, a bar of baking chocolate had us in the doggy ER She is an opportunist and a scavenger. But after a puppyhood in which she was hit, it has taken awhile but now after 5 years she is no longer afraid of every adult and child. She saw how kindly most people responded to her brother and decided she'd give human beings another try. Amelie is still too smart and naughty at the first opportunity, but she is a love and gratefully licks my hand after I give her a drink of water. She has bouts of gratitude when she showers me with kisses and won't stop. Amelie too smells like love powder. She was born March 16, 2003. Andre June 16, 2001. My boy Andre was born 2 months after my soulmate, best friend of 25 years died. Devastated and in despair, I was told I could FINALLY have a dog. I had grown up with an IG, Tina, who died in 1972 at 13. I had missed Tina for 30 years and miss her still. And for 30 years I had to live in places that did not allow me to have any dogs even tiny ones. In December of 2002, Andre, my red fawn boy pup came into my life through Mary Frankio, the IG's angel. And, as it turns out, Mary was to be my angel too. Andre's sweetness, gentleness and love relieved my grief and brought tiny moments of joy back into my life. His adoration and warmth helped me piece together this shattered heart. Amelie, came to me through Mary, one year later. Amelie walked into my apt and Andre's space and immediately stole his toys, and treats. She has learned since. But I must say, any other brother would have chewed her to bits. Andre's tolerance for his sister's naughty ways makes me marvel. I never forgot what Mary once told me that "Andre was one of the few male IG's that (she) allowed to be with IG pups. I once saw a fiesty IG pup climbing up on Andre and trying to chew his tail and ears. As usual Andre took it in his stride and with grace. What gifts my 2 IG pups have been to me. Andre and Amelie are a healing (not heeling) pair. Thank you Mary and Gina!
Piccolo - ADOPTED April 2002

The first iggy in the Reed household. As loyal as he is handsome, he is the love of our hearts!
