  • The dogs available for adoption on our site will be adopted to families in MA, ME, NH, RI, and VT ONLY.
  • The adoption donation is $250 for each dog, please review our "What We Do" page to learn how we get our rescues, learn about IG's and their characteristics, and learn about the adoption process.
  • We would like to remind potential adopters that IG's are playful well into their teens and can easily live to be 14-16 yrs old, some even older! We have wonderful older iggies looking for homes. Please consider meeting one or a pair of them in person so you can see how wonderful they can be!
  • If you are a couple that is contemplating having children in the near future or if you currently have a young a child, please be sure that you are aware than an IG demands a lot of attention and can be very fragile. If you are intersted in adopting, please be sure that your child is well behaved and understands that they need to be gentle with the dog.
  • If you are thinking of adopting an IG, please know that 95% of these guys/gals are BED BUGS, they prefer to sleep in bed and under the covers because unlike many other breeds they crave warmth and body heat, they are snuggle bugs to the max! If you prefer that your dog sleep elsewhere, please consider adopting a different breed as it may take several months before we get an IG in rescue that would be okay with not sleeping in bed.
  • We MUST have your application in hand prior to having any discussions on specific dogs due to the increased volume of inquiries on our adoptable dogs.
  • The application can be printed from the "Application" button to the left and must be completed and faxed or emailed with attention to ONE of the following people:

Mary Frankio: 781-447-0572 (fax) info@eastcoastigrescue.org (email)
Melissa Martin: 401-597-0215 or 401-652-1704 (faxes) melissa@eastcoastigrescue.org (email)
Ann Bodkhe: 413-772-6045 (fax) ann@eastcoastigrescue.org (email)
  • We often have a list of approved homes waiting for dogs, so there are some IGs that don't make it onto our website. If you've researched the breed and think a rescued dog is for you, please submit an application, even if there is not a dog on our website in which you are interested. We may have more dogs in our rescue program than what are found on our site.
  • IMPORTANT: If you are from CT, please visit Connecticut IG Rescue to find Italian Greyhounds available for adoption in your state.

Available for Adoption

Bugsy

Bugsy is a 7 year old male IG who was turned into Rescue because his family was moving. He is on phenobarbital to control seizures. Bugsy would be best placed in a home without small children. He loves the other IGs in his foster home. We will share more information on Bugsy as we learn his personality.

For more information on Bugsy, please contact Melissa at melissa@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Hanna

Hanna is a 5 year old, 25 pound, female IG that was turned over to a local shelter due to divorce. She came into Rescue severely overweight. We had some blood work done and she has been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, which explains why she is so overweight. With inexpensive medication (Soloxine, about 4 cents a pill), better diet and exercise, Hanna will lose weight. We expect that Hanna should weigh between 13-15 pounds. She loves people and is outgoing, her tail never stops wagging. She does very well in the car by sitting patiently in the back seat. We will post more information as we learn more about her personality.

For more information on Hanna, please contact Melissa at melissa@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Ace

Ace is a 13 year old male who has a phenomenal personality. He truly acts half his age! He is very easy to be around and very mild mannered. He would be okay with children and with cats. He loves to go for car rides and for walks. He is super cuddly and is a complete bed bug. He is very healthy medically and has quite a few more years left in him!!!

For more information on Ace, please contact Mary at info@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Romeo

Romeo, Romeo, where is your new home going to be, Romeo? Romeo is a rambunctious blue and white neutered 6 year old male. Who has been in foster care far, far too long. He loves to meet people, climb gates, and go places but needs some work with walking quietly on a leash. He doesn't mind having his nails trimmed and enjoys any kind of attention you can give him. The crate is a safe haven for him and he willingly rests there or stays there for the night or when his foster mom is working. Romeo has been in good health since his foster mom started thyroid medicine and seizure medicines (both inexpensive). Because of his high activity level, Romeo would NOT do well in an apartment or with young children or cats. He needs someone who look beyond his need for medication and enjoy his sprightly spirit. Could you be the person to start Romeo off on his new, secure life?

Romeo is being fostered in Massachusetts.

For more information on Romeo, please contact Ann at ann@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Max

Max, come out and play! Max is a handsome 6 year old neutered boy who is as funny as he is sweet! He is a stunning almost solid blue with a just a smattering of white markings. This guy loves to play and romp almost as much as he likes being cuddled. He happily climbs onto your lap for nail trimming and enjoys the challenge of learning new things. He doesn’t mind his crate and sleeps there quietly at night or when his foster mom is away. He is a healthy boy who can climb any gate in his foster Mom's house or yard and enjoys figuring out how to do it. He would be a GREAT agility dog. He would do well in an active family WITHOUT young children or cats. He would NOT do well in an apartment. Are you the person who would welcome a new playful partner?

Max is being fostered in Massachusetts.

For more information on Max, please contact Ann at ann@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Skye and Spring

Skye and Spring were turned into Rescue because their prior owner no longer had enough time to spend with them. Skye (blue/white) is an 9 year old, 24 lb, male and Spring (fawn/white) is a 10 year old, 11 lb, female. They have been together since Skye was a pup and for this reason, we'd love for them to be able to stay together. These guys are the best dogs ever. They get along with any foster dog that comes into the home. They love attention, have wonderful personalities, do great with their outdoor potty habits, and love to snuggle right up against you whenever possible. They both sleep under the blankets in bed at night and do excellent in the crate during the day. They are also well behaved when left alone outside of the crate as well. Both are up to date on shots, have been spayed and neutered, and have had a recent dental. Skye is on inexpensive medication (costs approximately $40 a year) to control Hypothyroidism and Spring has had infrequent minor seizures in the past which do not require medication. In the more than seven months Spring has been in foster care, she has only had two minor petit mal seizures. Spring would need to go to a home where there are not many stairs due to luxating patellas in her rear legs. Please do not let these minor health issues and their age prevent them from finding their forever home because they both have so much love and affection to give!

Skye and Spring are being fostered in RI.

For more information on Skye and Spring, please contact Melissa at melissa@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Buddy

Buddy is 3 1/2 years old and weighs about 10 lbs. He is small for a male. He gets along with other dogs. Should be placed in his forever home without cats or children. Will thrive in a quiet environment. He is afraid of loud noises. Buddy is on phenobarbital to control seizures. Please contact Mary for more details about his past.

For more information on Buddy, please contact Mary at info@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Patty

Patty is a 8 year old special needs dog. This poor little girl was rescued from a puppy mill situation. She has little human contact. Has lost all but one tooth and needs special food as a result. She has seizures which we are trying to control. She feels more secure with a special vest on.

Patty is available for private adoption and not property of IGRF.

For more information on Patty, please contact Mary at info@eastcoastigrescue.org.

Gale and Blue - NOT the property of East Coast IGR

Gale & Blue come as a pair. They need a quiet, low key environment, where they can be the center of attention. With ME-Chelle's Resort expanding into the rescuing of Italian Greyhounds, our household has become too hectic for them. Gale & Blue need a household with a fenced in yard, NO children or other dogs/cats, and LOTS of love. They are 3 years old, spayed, up to date on all shots, etc. I do not ship and you must live within 2 hours of Falmouth, Maine (ME-Chelle's). We want to be your babysitter when you go on vacation or just need a break. Gale and Blue are spayed females with no health issues and up-to-date on all shots. They will be a great addition to the right family. We LOVE them with all our heart and will miss them VERY much!!!

If you are interested in these dogs please contact Michelle at me.chelleigs@gmail.com or 207-797-9449
